The dangers of incubation

I fully expected to have a nasty cold/flu today. You see, it's the season. Also we held a LARP on Saturday and several of the people there were recovering from various such ailments.

I figured, that's a recipe for contagion if I ever heard of one. But, so far so good.

Semi-LARP report

I won't be going into the actual events of the LARP, because, as ST, I know too much (Doesn't that sound ominous?) and don't want to accidentally hint at plot points. It's so hard to be careful!

We arrived at the fire house before the man with the key. It was chilly out, so I ducked inside to wait -- and discovered a three year old's birthday party in full progress in the Gymboree section of the building. Oh. My. Once we were let in, we started doing a little prep in the kitchen. One of the Gymboree ladies came in. The conversation went a little like this:

don't freak the mundanes )

Things managed to get underway. The site was a bit chilly and had the bad acoustics that sort of hall always has. There wasn't much to be done for that. Luckily, the next game in in June, where heating will be much less of an issue!

I had to switch costuming partway through the evening. I'd put NPC1 just in jeans and a t-shirt with pigtails, so that was no problem. NPC2, on the other hand, needed to be a bit more formal. I'd forgotten when I planned the makeup that I'd be wearing black, which washes me out a little, and had only brought my neutral spice colored lipstick. Hmph. I got a second opinion from Jenn, feeling a little odd to be asking a 'Nosferatu' for aesthetic advice, and Carina. Finally, I found [info]bethynyc and borrowed her MAC 'Carnal', which is a nice deep red. Problem solved. I still wasn't happy with the hair, but short of doing something really slicked back, there wasn't much I could do after the braids.
