You can't be too funny at work, because one persons funny is another persons complaint to you manager.
I've introduced a new line into my patter that's been going over well lately. As I wait for a record to come up (or a page to load), I let the customer know, "My computer is loading that at it's usual lightning speed." Much nicer than "I'm looking that up now..."
Who says you can't use sarcasm in customer service?
