I'm not 100% sold on the color and text effects on this icon, but it's a pretty good start. I don't actually caption icons all that often, but this phrase just kind of leaped out at me when I saw the image.

So I've driven my brand new car to work every morning this week. I clearly need to get those clear plastic mats for the driver and passenger seat floors. The carpeting's a bit pale. I am sure in a year I won't care, but for now...

Gencon is next week. In order to not work on my character sheets earlier this week, I created this nifty Convention Listing at upcoming.org. Really, check it out -- my OCD is mighty when I am avoiding other work!

The display via google calendars does not 100% work, as events with times on them (as opposed to all-day events) show only on their first day instead of across all days of the event (they still show on the agenda view properly for some reason). It seems to pick up new events, but even when I went back and corrected events to be all-day multi-day they stay displayed wrong. It's still pretty cool, though.

Be amazed at my amazing sorting and categorizing skills! Plus, it's something other people could add their events to, if they wanted...

Ah, just as well I didn't plan to go to GenCon this year, seeing as how I'm more-or-less housebound. Have fun!!
I was wondering about adding entries and then came back and saw you had mentioned it. I like this a lot and may borrow the idea for other things as well. Cool deal!
I use upcoming for my local star trek calendar:
http://www.geocities.com/tempest9703/calendar.html
So it's do-able. (Sadly, the google calendar reads the ics fine, but does not seem to take updates well).

I did this as a group so that (a) all these conventions that are nowhere near me won't clog up my user page and (b) so other users could, conceivably join the group.
There is much love in my heart for that icon!
I like the icon and I love the calendar. :) Now if I could just get one to add CA-only events to my Google calendar...

It might be possible...

I think you can set your 'metros' (which are basically things like "San Francisco Bay Area" or "Memphis, TN area", and then search for tags inside "My Metros" - you can subscribe to a search result, and import the resulting ics file into google calendars... probably.

That may be awfully complicated...

If you just want to do them one by one, though, if you go to the event page (like this one: http://upcoming.org/event/95653/ ), there's a blue button called "export" that lets you add that event to your google calendar (or your yahoo or 30 boxes calendar, looks like).
Cool! I look forward to hearing about all the wonderful things going on a GenCon this year, as I shan't be able to make it. :(

Stupid work.
Hi,

I came across your site - http://www.hellenback.com/lj_userpics/comics.html and I was wondering whether I could use some of those icons on LJ, they are awesome! (Ok, I already stole a couple, but I could delete them if you mind) :)

Sorry about the offtopic...

No problem

The only icons I'm protective of are the ones with my actual photo on them. Otherwise, they're free to take.

Re: No problem

Thank you :)
