From the Mate or Die entry:

  • In the Harry Potter fandom, the Snape/Lupin ship saw a great number of fanfics using this trope, where Snape and Lupin were imprisoned together right before a full moon. This would mean Snape's death as soon as Lupin took upon his werewolf form, but if Lupin considered Snape as his "mate", the werewolf would spare them. Therefore...
    • A particularly horrible fanfic featured a once-in-1000-years event where Hogwarts ghosts would compulsively kill anyone who was innocent (i.e. a virgin). Hermione didn't quite get out, so Snape had to go in to rescue her...yes, that way.
    • It was also a particular favorite of Harry/Draco writers, who invented the Male Veela fic, where poor Draco had to bond (sexually, of course) with his Soul Mate, or perish. Naturally, his worst enemy was his destined Soul Mate.
      • What the hell have you people been reading? Stop that!

Slash.

I just don't get it.

*shrug*

I tend to file it under "Whatever floats your boat..."

Fanfic lost most of its shock and horror value for me long ago because I realised that facfic writers out there are far more perverted that I could ever dream of. Dumbledore being gay? Sha, that was probably one of the first Potter slashes written. Slashers will put any two people, beings, or objects together, even if they aren't in the same universe.

That being said, the Scooby/Shaggy slash I once stumbled across just made me go "squick*.

Rule 34?

Rule #1 is "Don't Visualize". What's 34?

Ah right, I had forgotten about that. The wetriffs, com site was too funny.

yup
I remember a few years ago I tried googling for the most absurd slash around. You can find pretty much anything, even biblical slash -- I remember seeing Jesus/John the Baptist slash.

Re: yup
Sadly, that's not that out there as there are many homosexual Jesus theories floating around.

I love how fanfic writers assume Hermione was a virgin just because she was kinda prissy. Um... real life doesn't always exactly work that way.

Anyway, a funnier ending to that scenario would have been Hermione having a heated legal argument with the ghosts about why oral sex really OUGHT to be counted as sex... and winning it. *ROFL*

But seriously, I do think all the "teachers having sex with students" stuff is really skeevy. :P

Well, for the first few books, she had limited opportunity. Of course, she did go on an overseas vacation to visit her boyfriend between books four and five...

I like to pretend that HP slash doesn't actually happen till after book 4 is over and the kids are at least 15 anyway. 11-year-old kids having sex is disgusting. :P

I stay far away from HP fics for a lot of reason, but that certainly doesn't help. **scrubs brain**
