So, a person in an unrelated department recieved an attachment meant for us and kindly forwareded the message. Sadly, the message arrived without the attachment. I emailed the original sender to ask him to email me a copy. He replies back, "Sure! What's your email address?"
Ten minutes later I saw the attachment in my inbox, without having to have said a word...

I'm taking Thursday and Friday off for KatsuCon. Making my life easier is the fact that out office is closed for President's Day this year. It's always nicer when you can travel home on the Monday after.
My boss just sent me a furious IM demanding to know why my calendar was marked unavailable for Monday. She'd never seen a vacation request for Monday. What was I doing planning for an extra unrequested day? But, I replied, Monday is a holiday. What holiday, she demanded. Um, Presidents Day. Harumph, said she, we don't close for Presidents Day! My heart sank; Had I planned wrong? Was I going to have to rearrange things? Eek. Then, a minute later, she sends me another IM. We do close for Presidents Day this year. Her bad.
On the plus side, my boss is happy now she's getting an unexpected day off.
I knew it was a good idea to program all of the company holidays into my calendar - saves a world of actually remembering stuff.

Cubicle Neighbor M was helping someone get into one of our local systems.
M: Do you know what they set your password to?
Guy: Um, no.
M: let me try something. 1... 2... 3... 4... 5... that was it!
Guy: thanks.
Me: (over cubicle wall) Hey, that's the sort of password an idiot would have on his luggage!

I've been working on the Vampire Myths page a bit lately. The update's not up yet, but should be soonish.
Incidentally, anyone who's read "Dead After Dark" or "Living Dead In Dallas" lately, (by Charlaine Harris) I may want to pick your brain. I don't have the books with me and am forgetting things.
I think I'll also draft in dracula, finally.
In the meantime, for your amusement, I will give you some of the loser mail I ran across while working the inbox.

On the other hand, is this some yahoo who really believes in this stuff and thinks that some random person he emails will put him in touch with the undead? Or is it someone who wants to generate a condescending reply.
I never reply to loser mail, because either way you don't want to encourage them. But I do wonder...
