Ran across this product today: Laptop Lunches - American style bento boxes.
They actually look kind of handy...
Back on topic; this just popped into my inbox:
You are invited to join us at the 14th game of Distant Mirrors "Prequels & Sequels"
Scholars of the World of Darkness know the year 1465 as the creation of the Camarilla at the Convention of Thorns. However, the insertion of dozens of timeswept Kindred has altered the "known past" quite a bit. With the repercussions that followed the last game, Thorns is now nothing but a small footnote in both Mortal and Kindred history. Frantic reshuffling to protect the future interests of all clans is now sending the Kindred Leaders to Wurms, Germany where the Tzimisce have vouchsafed Kindred of any and all clans. Many of the Kindred of Boston are now converging on this meeting, some with the hope of returning home. Others, however, are more than willing to time travel the old fashioned way, one night at a time, gathering power as only those with knowledge of the future can do. And, with such Power at stake, they will do whatever it takes to prevent a mass exodus back to the 21th Century.
Join us Saturday Oct 14th at the Fleetwood Museum. Registration starts at 4 PM and the game will run to 11:00 again. Price is $20.00, soda and snacks provided. See you there!

So says the Petey (pdqgames at gmail dot com)Hi All,
Ok, were getting the games ready to go for paintball and need the rosters of the ships attending. We have currently 6 ships confirmed and we want to know if anyone else is coming.
The price is the same as last time; $25.00 a head, for field pass, air and gun rental. (Same price with or without gun). Townhouses are $306 for the large north wood with hot tubs and $288 for the Summit with hot tub. There were some problems with the prices to start but we fixed that).
Registration will start at 9 am at the Skirmish field and we go until 5:30. The morning game is being set aside for a grudge match with John Valor, The "Inmates" (Warhammer) and the rest of the field. Who's ship is John on?
The afternoon game I have two scenario's set up and want to see what the rosters look like before I chose one.
Remember, when renting the townhouses call Skirmish (1 800 SKIRMISH) and ask for Debbie to get the discounted prices.
Hope to see you there,
Pete
That just went out to the Tempest list. I thought I'd repost here in case there are folks interested in paintball who aren't on the list.

Hi Folks
We have a rather poor turn out for this game, due to me personaly not getting the invite out. The amount of people does not justifiy us renting the masion so we will be hosting the game at our home. 15 people said they were going to show up and due to us now being in the past this would be a good opertunity to for a smaller game. The location is about 40 minutes west of the Mansion directions are included below. The game will be free just bring money for Pizza or maybe some Burgers on the BBQ. Costumes are optional, however please bring a bathing suit as we have a hot tub to relax in. (Roman Bath IG). Looking forward to a fun night, see you there!
Pete & Karen.
Hope everyone can make it!
Pete
Last update has the game postponed on the grounds that too few people could make it (with less than a week's notice? go fig!!!)
So likely there will be a less formal (and free) gathering out in Easton for those who care for some hamburgers on the BBQ and maybe a little tabletop BGA action. The hot tub's hooked up by now, too, I hear.
I'm probably going to head out, so if folks in the North/Central Jersey areas need directions or to arrange a car pool, let me know.

Date: Mon, 17 Jul 2006
From: "Peter Jay" <pdqgames@gmail.com>Hi all
Sorry, due to personal issues I have not gotten out an invite to the July 22nd game scheduled for this Saturday. Several of the ST's have asked that we take a head count on who can attend a game this Saturday. We plan on running the dark age game with your current character (save for the few who have requested NPC's). Let us know if you can make the game. (That is besides the people who have written to let us know they were coming. :-)
Thanks
Pete
Registration usually opens at 4:00 PM for game start at 5:00 PM.
The site is the Fleetwood Musuum at the Vermuele Mansion.
My boss has just determined a useful thing! I was unable to adjust my chair yesterday because it is not a spinny chair! It's lever adjusted.
The facilities people who delivered it told me it was a spin-adjusted chair and I just took their word for it. But they were wrong. And now I am taller. Yay.

- Upcoming.org
Some time back, I did a redesign on the USS Tempest website and made it my job to keep up the calendar. The past couple of years, partially due to slow communication from those who make the schedule, and partially due to a lack of time on my part, I've gotten pretty bad about keeping it up.
Then I ran across Upcoming, and set up a Tempest feed (my page has a few more events - I separated out what was Tempest appropriate). I've put in every advance event I know of, and it automatically updates to scroll off past events. So that solves my end of the problem. Communication is still an issue, but, well, I have to stick to what I can control.
One kind of neat thing is that you can tag events, so I can separate all of the events by, say Double Exposure (or Nexus Sanctioned).
Kind of neat, huh.
- Distant Mirror
Speaking of lack of communication, though... The last thing I heard from the Distant Mirror crew was about the cancelation of the Nov 19 game. Seeing as how the next game was supposed to be at Dreamation, which is only two weekends away, this.... concerns me. It especially concerns me as I am still theoretically staff. Eh, why would I need to be in the loop anyway?
- Dreamation
Dreamation's Jan 19-22, by the way. I have the Monday before off for Martin Luther King Day (They swapped it for Presidents Day this year. Frankly, I liked having Presidents Day off better.) That makes me hesistant to take the Friday off, and I wouldn't have taken the Thursday anyway.
Assuming I don't go as DM staff, I am wondering if I should go at all.
It's a $50 weekend fee, and I probably wouldn't get in more than a day and a half of gaming (given time also lost to the commute and end-of-work-week exhaustion). I haven't committed to run anything on my own behalf, so I would not be failing any obligation.
I suppose if B needs more help in the anime room, that would be a reason to go.
aiskon will be going, and she's in the same boat with being unable to take days off -- and now that I live with her, we could car pool. I suppose I'll decide sooner to the date.

- Distant Mirror's scheduled game for Nov 19 is CANCELED
- Construction on the head ST's house is still dragging on, and they didn't feel up to prepping a game from the hotel, so the November game is off. Next game should be at Dreamation. I'm not sure an email blast went out, so if you know any DM players that don't read this, you might want to mention the cancelation to them.
- Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire on Friday
- Goblet of Fire opens this weekend, and we're going to make an expedition to see it. Right now, I'm only seeing a 7:00am (too early) and a 10:35pm (too late) showing at either the Hadley (South Plainfield) or the Commerce Center (North Brunswick) theaters, but I am maintianing a Goldilocks optimism that this is just because full showtimes for Friday night don't usually show up online this early. So that 'just right' showtime may still be waiting for us. I'll post more details here as information comes in.
- The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe the second weekend of December
- The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe opens December 8 (Thu). I want to make a Manhattan expedition to see this one, so scheduling needs to go a bit in advance. I might be able to do a Friday night show as we did for Mirrormask since I think Decmeber 9 is our office Christmas party and likely to result in an early dismissal. Otherwise Saturday or Sunday afternoons are possible. I have to check with Y's schedule (as she is the reason I want to go into the city for this movie), but if anyone else who's interested has scheduling constraints, let me know so I can take them into account.

- I ran across this from the del.icio.us popular page and thought
dreadpiratetait would appreciate it. Although, odds are good she already knows about it. - The Renaissance Games LARP is over.
- In case anyone who should have gotten the email missed it, the RenGames LARP scheduled for Sept 10 is canceled. Note, canceled, not rescheduled. I just turned off the life support on this puppy.
- I feel bad that things petered out this way, and I would have liked to give the players a good closing game, but I don't see the issues that brought me to this decision going away, and I can keep bleeding myself out over this.
- Apherisis
- Speaking of bleeding out, I got a lovely letter from the Blood Center of New Jersey congratulating me on my high white blood cell count. Personally, I am suspicious that I may simply not have a low white blood cell count, but they needed an opening line to invite me to donate by apherisis. I'm not eligible to donate again until the 28th (I have whole blood early in August), but it might be fun to give it a shot again (last time I tried, I was in a low-iron count phase and was deferred.)
- If you don't have a rare whole blood type, and you want to try and do something nice for the community, I'd say go ahead and look into it.
- Family vs. Gaming
- I'm thinking of driving to NH this weekend. N is up there, and I didnt get a chance to be up there all summer. I'd have to take Friday off. If I did, it would probably replace the Friday I might have taken for Southen Exposure later in the month. (Anyone with an opinion on the linked driving question, feel free to post here.)
- I've been waffling on attending SE because it's such a long drive and I have Sunday plans up north. And I hate taking days off. On the other hand,
aiskon has said she could use some help from me in the con suite and it's possible that Petey might be expecting me to be there to help with his LARPs there. I have this thing about letting people down, you know. - I do have five vacation days and three personal days left, though, and only four months left in the year. They're there to be used, right?

So, I'm sick. *hack* *sniffle*. I went home early on Tuesday and spent yesterday in bed. I still feel like crap, but here I am at work.
There has been talk to see the Fantastic Four movie on Friday.
As of now, logistics look like they will be as follows:
- Date: Friday, 8 July 2005
- Theater: Regal Commerce Center 18
- Showtime: 8:10pm
For those of you who may not have seen the email, the next RenGames LARP will be 10 September 2005. Deadling for XP spending and new character submissions is 24 July 2005.
In marginally related news, White Wolf is apparently requiring that any LARP that runs for-profit has to join the Camarilla and make their players join the Camarilla. Donations to recoup location rental count as a 'fee'. If you have not had your daily RDA of hysterical drama, read through the comments.

OK, I lied in my last post. We are calling tomorrows LARP because of projected inclement weather.
Basically we're looking at a lot of snow which will be just about half-accumulated just when everyone will be driving home. That's not a new combo.
We're looking at Feb 26th as our alternate date.
ETA: And
aiskon, bless her heart, has invited me to come by tomorrow for a snow sleepover so I will not be snowed in to my apartment all alone. That will be nice, I think.

All of my gaming friends should check out The Order of the Stick. It is tremendously brill.
For those really looking for new webcomics, here's my daily read. del.icio.us is a faboo thing.
Renaissance Games game 8 will be this saturday. No, there is no snow date. In the event that the weather becomes prohibitive, we'll wing it.
There. I've posted.
