grandbuddha tells me there's a plan. (I'm still waffling whether I'll go tonight or crash early and see it later in the wekeend.)
So, here are the logistics:
Movie Night: Friday, 09 May 2008 Theater: Regal Commerce Center 18
2399 US 1 South, North Brunswick, NJ, USAMovie: Speed Racer Showtime: 9:15pm
No news yet whether they'll hit the Omega Diner after the show.
- Mood:
tired - Music:Beth Hart - L.A. Song
So showtimes for Friday night are up. I only got a lukewarm reception for the Dunellen idea, so it looks like we're back at the Regal Commerce Center. Here are the showtimes:
Regal Commerce Center 18
2399 US 1 South, North Brunswick, NJ, USA - Map
10:00 | 10:30 | 11:00am | 12:30 | 1:00 | 1:30 | 2:00 | 3:30 | 4:00 | 4:30 | 5:00 | 6:30 | 7:00| 7:30 | 8:00 | 9:30 | 10:00 | 10:30 | 11:00pm
EDIT: I'm changing my decree to 8:00pm, to clear a scheduling conflict for
grandbuddha. (We're sure not waiting until 9:30, still).
So, here are our logistics:
Movie Night: Friday, 02 May 2008 Theater: Regal Commerce Center 18
2399 US 1 South, North Brunswick, NJ, USAMovie: Iron Man Showtime: 8:00pm
As usual, we'll probably hit the Omega Diner after the show.
- Mood:
cold - Music:The Cure - Lullaby
So, Iron Man is coming out this weekend, which necessitates an expedition.
A quick glance at
the movie map explains why we tend to wind up at the
Regal Commerce Center for these expeditions (even though that is a bit on the southerly side for those of us coming from Harlock House.) Well, that and the fact that the more central Menlo Park and Loews New Brunwick theaters are... suboptimal. And
ellis1138 doesn't like the
Regal Hadley. Now the
AMC Aviation is pretty convenient to us, but rather northerly for everyone else. This time out, there is a bit of a black horse creeping in. It looks like Iron Man will be showing at the
Dunellan theater with a 7:30 showing. I know, you're thinking, "Dunellen, really?" But this is the theater with
pizza and beer (or soda) served during the showing, which would be a new experience. So I'm just putting it out there as an option.
I mean, we're probably hitting the Commerce Center at whatever showing is between 7:30 and 8:00 on Friday, but if you've got preferences, now's the time to pipe up. Actual logistics will go up on Thursday, when all of the showtimes post.
- Music:Inara George - No Poem
So, it looks like the dim sum expedition is still on. Anyone coming should have already RSVP'd to Ghaunden. Logistics still look like so:
Date: 19 April 2008
Time: 12:30 pm
Restaurant: The Dynasty, on Rte. 22
Folks were also talking about seeing the Forbidden Kingdom, after. I glanced around at a map and the pertinent showtimes.
I think the closest theater is the Regal Hadley (South Plainfield), with afternoon showtimes of 1:30, 2:50, 4:20:
I know some folks aren't so fond of the Hadley, so another option is the Reading Cinemas Manville, with afternoon showtimes of 1:50, 2:50, 4:25:
I'm sure the final decision will be made on the spot, but it's something to think about it. (Livejournal does not seem to be parsing the iframes right, but the links works fine for the directions to theaters).

A great many folks expressed an interest in going to see Cloverfield, which opens this weekend. The Tomatometer is at 74%, which is promising.
Proposed logistics are as follows:
- Movie:
- Cloverfield
- Theater:
- Regal Commerce Center 18 (aka, the rte 1 Regal)
- Showtime:
- 8:10 pm
- After:
- Omega Diner

So say upper management:
From: Corporate

Subject: Early close for the holiday on Friday, December 21Dear Colleagues:
To allow everyone an early start to the long holiday weekend, [Company] offices in the U.S. will close at 2 p.m. in local time zones on Friday, December 21. As in the past, some managers may need to delay the departure of some employees, depending on work requirements.
We appreciate everyone's hard work and commitment to [Company], and wish you all a safe and enjoyable holiday with friends and family!
Regards,
[Upper Management]
In other news, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street opens tomorrow, for which
aiskon was somewhat psyched. We may well step out to see it before she heads off to the whirlwind of holiday travel she has in mind. (Me, I'm going home at 2 tomorrow and hibernating until next year.)
- Mood:

Basically, we usually only go to the theater that far south to cater to the folks in
grandbuddha's neck of the woods, and I think he's not going. And I'm tired and don't want to drive.
So
aiskon and I are probably just going to hit the theater in Linden (the new AMC on rte 9) for the 8pm showing.
Sorry, I hate doing this when I am the one who organized it.
- Mood:
apathetic
Yeah, it's been a while. I saw Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium and Enchanted without you guys. So there.
In any case, this is how logistics are looking to me:
| Movie: | The Golden Compass |
| Theater: | Regal Commerce Center 18, North Brunswick |
| Date: | Friday, 07 December 2007 |
| Time: | 7:45 pm |
And probably a drop in at the Omega, after.
And for those who forgot, my daemon:

Disney is releasing The Nightmare Before Christmas in 3D. It opens tomorrow.
Now, you might think that on account of this being a 3D digital movie, you might have to cross over into another state, but that's not so. It's playing at the AMC Loews Jersey Gardens 20, which is the theater next to Jersey Gardens (New Jersey's Largest Outlet Mall).
Elizabeth, you say? Isn't that kind of far North for most potential movie companions? And aren't outlet malls industrial areas a combination of creepy and tacky? Shut up, I say. It's closer than Manhattan and doesn't require crossing a $6 toll bridge like the theater in Staten Island.
So. Anyone up for braving the trip to Elizabeth to see this thing? You'll get to have your very own pair of digital 3-D glasses? And you can, *shudder*, even go outlet shopping before or after, if you want.
So, as planned, went to see The Seeker this afternoon along with some friends.
As predicted, it bore little resemblance to the book The Dark Is Rising. I only read the series as an adult, so I wasn't as bothered by that as people who have childhood memories to be tarnished. Some of the changes made sense, some seemed wholly random. I can say that the fears about the Stantons being "dynfunctional" turned out to be overstated - the family struck me as fairly normal, with the only major problem being Dark-instigated. Overall, it's not a bad movie, but not terribly inspired, either.

Movie times have posted on most online data sources. A quick poll of interested persons yields the following updated proposal:
| Film: | The Seeker |
| Theater: | Regal Commerce Center 18 View Larger Map |
| Date: | Sunday 07 October 2007 |
| Time: | 2:15pm |
Anyone who cares to join us is welcome to do so.

There hasn't been a movie expedition in a while. Really, not much out there has spoken to me in a while. The Seeker (originally titled and now subtitled "The Dark is Rising"1) opens this weekend. I have detected a nonzero level of interest among my peers, so a-planning here I go.
I'm not so into a Friday night thing2 and I have stuff penciled in for Saturday. Sunday, though? Sunday remains an option. Sunday movie expeditions are, of course, always matinees or early showings because I (as well as most of my peers) have work Monday morning and am old and boring and need my sleep.
So, if people are up for a Sunday movie expedition, now's the time to comment with general time and location preferences3. And, you know, to point this entry out to potentially interested parties who do not read my lj.
1 So subtitled in the hopes of drawing in Susan Cooper fans who have not seen the trailer or read any commentary and still think the movie will in any way resemble the novel.
2 I'm still sniffly and some folks may or may not have plans.
3 Note: Movie showtimes for weekends do not post until Thursdayish thus exact time/location logistics are not yet available blah blah bitty blah.
- Mood:
sick - Music:Imogen Heap - Loose Ends
So, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix opened this week, and we'll be doing an outing tomorrow night. The logistics are as follows:
| Movie: | Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix |
| Date: | Friday, 13 July 2007 |
| Theater: | Regal Commerce Center 18 2399 Us Highway 1, North Brunswick, NJ 08902 |
| Showtime: | 7:30pm |
Any questions?

ETA: OK, because I always seem to go through this, I have an announcement. Most theaters announce their weekend showtimes (which includes Friday night) on Thursday. This means, that, before Thursday, I do not know the showtimes for planned Friday excursions. Clear?
- I've added two theaters to the Theater Map Thing I have.
There's the Dunellan Theater and Cinema Cafe: I haven't been, but their special looks interesting... The Cinema Cafe Pizza Special - $22.75 includes 2 movies tickets (Adult, Child, or Senior), large pizza, pitcher of beer or soda which is also available for all showings; The Cinema Cafe has double spaced seating with tables, so you can enjoy your meal during the show.
There's also the AMC Aviation 12 which is right by the Linden Airport. It seems to have only just opened. Tremendously convenient to Harlock House and Strikeforce Moriarty, it looks like - on Rte 1/9 a little north of the Woodbridge Mall.
- Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix opens this weekend.
The Dunellen Theater page says they'll have it, and I have to assume the other major theaters will have it as well (see poll, below).
- I found Spongebob fruit at the market yesterday.
I have to give them credit for hawking something better than the usual overprocessed garbage. They lose some points for the wasteful packaging, though. I had to take the picture just to document the oddness.
- I'm not going to call off Monday's game
ellindsey says he can make it after all.

- Fantastic Four Movie Expedition
For these blcokbuster movie expeditions, we always hit the Regal Commerce Center 18. I accept that now.
I took a look at the showtimes, and I think 7:10 is too early and 9:10 is too late, so I am calling the 7:50 pm showtime.
Expect to hit the Omega Diner afterwards.
- Birthday Fondue
I hit a bit of a snag with this plan, as the Melting Pot isn't open for lunch. I've chosen to aim for 5:00pm on Saturday. It's a day early, but we won't be competing with Fathers Day this way.
I figure I'll call for reservations tomorrow, which will pin down the time. Before I do that, I need to know how many people, so check the poll below. (Or, if you have no livejournal account, just comment anonymously.)

The survey has spoken:
We shall be seeing the 8:10PM showing of Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End tonight, Friday the twenty-fifth of May, at the Regal Commerce Center 18 theatre on Route 1 in New Brunswick.
As is usual, several moviegoers are likely to stop by the Omega Diner (which is to be found also on Route 1, slightly north of the theater) after the movie. Estimated time of arrival at the diner is shortly after 11:00PM.

Hey, it's a holiday weekend coming up, of course there will be stuff.
Memorial Day Weekend:
- Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End
- Friday, May 25, 2007
- Theater and Showtimes TBD
- USS Tempest Memorial Day Party
- Saturday, May 26, 2007
- Easton, PA
- (RSVP if you want steak)
- Double Exposure Memorial Day BBQ
- Sunday, May 27, 2007
- White Plains, NY
- (RSVP requested)
- Game Day and Poker Tournament at The Stronghold
- Sunday, May 27, 2007
- Somerset, NJ
- (RSVP if you want to play poker)
Things may be a bit crazy with the holiday, but I am guessing folks will be up for a Friday Movie Expedition to see PoTC. Showtimes, of course, don't post until Thursday, although the trend seems to be 8ish at the Rte 1 Regal. I'm probably going to hit the Tempest party.
aiskon is likely to hit the Double Exposure BBQ along with
garrun. I'll likely skip that as the logistics of getting to White Plains and either staying over or getting back can be a bit much for me. I won't be playing poker at the game day; whether I show up at all is a call I'll make on Sunday. Oddly, I have nothing for Memorial Day itself; I think I shall sleep.
- Stephen & Teddy's Excellent Adventure 16
- Friday, June 1, 2007 - Sunday, June 3, 2007
Looks like camping is the next weekend after Memorial Day, so it's worth a mention. Not that I ever go to camping.
sarudy's Birthday- Sunday, June 17, 2007
I'd been thinking of doing an expedition to The Melting Pot at some point anyway, and Sundays seem logistically possible. We've got time, yet, but if folks are interested we can start pre-pre-planing.

So, the poll has spoken. We're going for the 8:30pm showing.
To recap:
- Spiderman 3
- Regal Commerce Center 18
- Tonight, Friday 04 May 2007
- 8:30 PM showing
Note: It's a two hour, twenty minute movie, which means that the run to the Omega Diner will take place elevenish.
- Location:2399 US 1, North Brunswick, NJ
- Mood:
bored - Music:Venus Hum - Pink Champagne
So we're going to the a Regal Commerce Center 18 (2399 Route 1 South, North Brunswick, NJ 08902), because
ellis1138 has a deep irrational hatred of the Hadley, and the Rte 1 Regal is more convenient to
grandbudda.
We don't want to hit a showing before 8 to allow all persons to make it to the theater on time. And I don't want to go too terribly late, because I am a cranky old lady who needs her sleep.
